Tsunami

Is water from the only artesian well at Wat Yan Yao, Thailand still safe to drink? The area has served as a morgue for tsunami victims for months, and the well is still in use.

Resident monks fear the well may have been contaminated by discharge from decomposed bodies kept at the temple while it served as a post-mortem centre.

However, health officials tests of water samples taken from the well showed that their quality was not much different from water in rivers or canals. This is a long term problem with no clear answer.
