Lake Macatawa

People in Holland, Michigan want to know what's killing the fish in their lake. Hundreds of dead fish have washed ashore, and countless other fish near death bob in the murky brown water.

A Hope College chemistry professor who has studied Lake Macatawa thinks the cause could be an abrupt change in water temperatures, which can rob the lake of oxygen. Another factor may be that the lake has a larger fish population than it has had in many recent years. State wildlife officials are expected to investigate the area and why dead fish are dotting the shoreline. Environmental Report.
