Kalamazoo Lake
The city of Grand Rapids in Michigan wants to dredge Kalamazoo Lake near the Union Street boat launch. The City Council voted to apply to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for a permit to dredge. Some boaters using the launch believe there are many obstructions within three to five feet of the shore. Initial estimates place the dredging at $8,200. If the DEQ permits the dredging, the city plans to get a detailed estimate for the project.
