Lake Winnipesaukee

People are concerned about the higher water level at Lake Winnipesaukee and damage to shoreline property following last week's flooding. The water has risen over walkways, docks and culverts.

The average lake elevation at this time of year normally is about 504 feet. It was about 505 1/2 feet on Tuesday night.

State officials are trying to help by releasing more water at the Lakeport Dam in Laconia, NH. It was held back during the flooding last week over flood concerns downstream at Silver Lake, but now over 18,000 gallons a second are being released.
