Lake Champlain

The level of Lake Champlain began to fall Thursday after setting a record for the highest level measured in July.

The surface of the lake was at 99.36 feet above sea level, breaking the record of 99.25 feet in 1973, the National Weather Service reported. The lake dropped by 0.04 inches by Thursday.

Lake Champlain also set records for high levels in late January and in February because of heavy winter rains.
