Fish

Fish are the most common vertebrates in a lake. Most fish eat plankton during the early stages of their life, while others feed on other fish (piscivores); grass carp consume plants (herbivores); others (carnivores) eat a variety of fish and macroinvertebrates. Many species of fish will also eat what is at the bottom of a lake and are known as detrivores.
