Water in Australia
Victoria, Australia's water supply is drying up at more than double the rate predicted just 18 months ago. New figures from the state's water authorities show the water shortfalls predicted early last year have grown in recent months.
The amount of water flowing from streams and rivers into reservoirs has dropped by up to 60 percent compared with the 100-year average. The Bracks Government is expected to roll out a series of major water announcements, detailing what action it will take to address chronic water shortages in central Victoria.
