Fecal Bacteria in Iowa Lakes
The DNR has found high levels of fecal bacteria in Clear Lake, Iowa. The water has a history of bacterial problems. A project is in place with area farmers to reduce run-off from their fields, as well as a large dredging project, which will try to increase depths from four to twenty-five feet on the west end of the lake. Three other Iowa lakes also showed high levels of fecal bacteria. They are Lake Darling, Rock Creek Lake, and Viking Lake.
