Oklahoma's Lakes

Heavy rainfall this summer in Oklahoma forced water to spill from the banks of the Caney and Neosho rivers, damaging hundreds of homes in places such as Bartlesville and Miami. The precipitation also raised the level of lakes in eastern Oklahoma, swamping campgrounds and other recreational areas.

Skiatook, Oologah, Grand, Eufaula, Keystone and Tenkiller Lakes are anywhere from about 4 to 16 feet above normal.

At around 595 feet Eufaula Lake was close to 2 feet from flood stage. High water flooded walkways and forced the closure of the restaurant at No. 9 Marina at Eufaula Lake. At Tenkiller Lake, where the level is about 6 feet above normal, business was close to normal.
