Seed Shrimp
Seed Shrimps or Ostracoda are usually less than .1 inch long, and are clam like crustaceans found in ponds and lakes. They can usually be found in mats of algae or other vegetation, and in mud on the bottoms of ponds. Many of the 150 species found in North America are brightly colored. Seed shrimps are scavengers, and are eaten by small fishes.
