Playa Lakes

Two thirds of the playa lakes on the Southern Plains are in Texas along the Panhandle. Playas are the center of biodiversity on the plains, and they support more than 200 species of birds and other wildlife.

A variety of groups are hosting a symposium in Amarillo to educate landowners, land managers and anyone else interested how to manage the shallow, natural basins to increase their ability to provide wildlife and water.
