North Dakota's Lakes

State Game and Fish officials in North Dakota want to remind people that it is not safe to venture out on lakes or rivers in the state, yet. Temperatures may be below freeing but ice is just now beginning to form. Several more days are needed to make the ice safe and stable.

Four-inch thick ice is needed for people to walk on, and about a foot or more to drive on the waterways. You may want to double the thickness for maximum safety.
