Global Warming and Lakes

Lakes in the Upper Midwest are seeing fewer and fewer days between freeze "ice in" and thaw "ice out" dates. The cause can be linked to global warming with over a hundred years of data to back up the claims. What will the future hold for lakes seeing warmer temperatures, and the species that call their watersheds home with less ice cover in the winter months? Search through the data collected by University of Wisconsin researchers below to learn more about this issue.
