Water Skiing in the Winter

Some brave souls in Michigan mark the New Year by water skiing. The New Year's Day ski dates to the late 1970s, when members of the West Michigan Water Ski Association were looking for a way to enjoy skiing in the off-season. Pigeon Lake, which empties into Lake Michigan just south of an energy plant, has been used for the New Year's Day ski since 1979.
