Flooding Grips the Midwest
The National Weather Service believes that the flooding that has gripped much of the Midwest and Central Plains could just be the start of a severe trend. Record rainfall and melting snow will continue in the region with many lakes, rivers and streams overflowing their banks. Some meteorologists have referred to this weather event as a "La Nina on steroids".
