Lake Erie Commercial Fishery
Catch limits on walleye and yellow perch keep dropping for the Lake Erie commercial fishery. This year could be the worst year for the commercial fishery since 1984. Fishery managers from around the Lake Erie watershed recommended decreasing quotas because of poor spawning.
The binational quota for walleye is dropping from 5.36 million to 3.594 million fish. Catch limits for yellow perch are set in pounds. The overall yellow perch quota is dropping from 11.39 million pounds to 10.160 million pounds.
