Ohio Threatens Compact
The Ohio Senate may put an agreement to keep Great Lakes water from being diverted in jeopardy. Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and New York have approved the Great Lakes Basin Compact.
The Ohio House approved it in February, and it is now pending in the Senate. Senator Timothy Grendell has introduced a bill that would change the text of the compact. If Grendell's bill is passed, the compact could be sent back to its starting point, and each state would have to pass it again.
