State Park in Minnesota in Doubt

A new Minnesota state park on Lake Vermilion may not see the light of day do to a land-swap provision. The bill died in the House Environment Committee with a 6-6 vote. The park would sit on 3,000 acres of land that is currently owned by the U.S. Steel Corporation. The DNR is negotiating with the company to buy the land. If the land is not secured for the park, it could be moved into the hand of developers for housing.
