Great Lakes Earth Day Challenge

People in the Great Lakes basin have come out in droves to support the EPA's Great Lakes Earth Day Challenge. The EPA wanted to collect 1 million pounds of electronics for recycling and 1 million pills for safe disposal to keep contaminants out of the Great Lakes. 2,184,000 pills have already been turned in for safe disposal, and 216,000 pounds of electronics.

This collection will help keep the contaminants out of the water supply of many cities and towns. The event also sheds light on the importance of proper disposal of toxic substances.
