Big Platte Lake, Little Platte Lake
Big Platte Lake is located in Benzie County, Michigan. It is over 3 miles long and 1.6 miles wide. The lake covers approximately 2550 acres, and has a maximum depth of 95 feet. The Platte River Hatchery on the Upper Platte River was degrading the water quality of the lake during the 1970’s. After many years of lawsuits and conservation efforts the water quality has slowly improved.
Little Platte Lake is a very shallow lake next to Big Platte Lake. This lake is 805 acres, and only 8 feet deep.
