Buckthorn, Wetlands and Lakes

glossy%20buckthorn.jpg

Invasive Buckthorn is becoming a larger problem across the wetlands and shorelines of much of the country. Glossy Buckthorn was brought from Europe in the 1850’s and was introduced through nurseries.

The plant continues to degrade wildlife habitat and contributes to the erosion problem on many lakes. It is actually illegal to possess this noxious weed in many states. The seeds of the plant can stay active in the ground for up to five years. If you want help in controlling this invasive species- contact us for help and suggestions.
