Global Warming and the Great Lakes

A report by the Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition warns that the U.S. should act to help stop global warming or Great Lakes water levels could drop up to 3 feet.

Highlights from the report are as follows:

Temperatures in the region will jump between 5.4 to 10.8 degrees. Less ice cover could mean lower water levels in the next century, and an increase in biological "dead zones" throughout the watershed. Lastly, sewage plants will have to dump raw and partially treated sewage into the lakes after heavy storms.
