Lake Minnetonka and Milfoil
A new plan is underway to help Lake Minnetonka control the growth of invasive species, such as Eurasian water milfoil and curly-leaf pondweed. Three bays in the lake will be treated with herbicides, the process costs close to 200,000 dollars. Milfoil is known to be in up to 200 lakes, rivers and streams in Minnesota. Once the weed has taken root it can only be controlled in the waterways, and not eradicated completely.
