Blue Waters Barge

Dane County, Wisconsin and the City of Madison are getting ready for a new plan to clean up Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. The new program will help eliminate aquatic vegetation and debris that cause major problems throughout the Madison chain of lakes. An $80,000 barge will help clear the debris from parks and shallow areas around the lakes.

Lakefront property owners can also collect debris from the lake and shoreline and pile it on the end of their piers. The barge will be on Lake Mendota and Lake Monona on alternating weeks to collect weeds and garbage.
