China Attempts to Drain Lake

Thousands of people have been moved to higher ground as water continues to rise in a lake formed by landslides from China's massive earthquake and strong aftershocks. Workers are in Mianyang downstream from Tangjiashan Lake to attempt to drain the water from the growing lake. The lake was formed above the town of Beichuan after rocks fell and blocked the flow of the Tongkou River.
