Lakes, Wells, Flooding and Raw Sewage

With the storms throughout the Midwest, the MLPC wants to remind people to check their wells. Wells may have been contaminated with the flooding, and bacteria and parasites may be present in your drinking water. You can contact the DNR in your state, or your local governments for testing kits.

Also, be aware that raw sewage was discharged into many lakes, due to overtaxed wastewater systems. So, contact local authorities for swim advisories. Many lakes throughout Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and other states have closed their lakes to recreation and no wake zones are in effect.
