Green Ships Initiative

Did you know, that all ships used by the NOAA now run on biodiesel throughout the Great Lakes? The fuel and oil used for the research ships is made from soybeans, rapeseed and canola. The project to convert the ships was started in 1999, and was finished in 2006. The project was dubbed the "Green Ships Initiative",
