New Testing for VHS

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is requiring tests of 28 species of fish if they are to travel across state lines. The new testing is put in place to help stop the spread of VHS or viral hemorrhagic septicemia across the Great Lakes region.

VHS has caused fish die-offs in lakes across the Midwest. Trout, salmon, muskie, whitefish and perch are all to be tested according to the new rule.
