Asian Carp Barrier

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that a new electric carp barrier will not be ready for service as planned. The Corps has been working on the project for three years, and now it may not be in service until spring. The barrier is on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. New pipes will be added to the barrier to cool the device. The total cost of the project has been $9 million, and is believed to be the best hope to keep the Asian carp from invading the Great Lakes.
