Griffon Shipwreck

The French government is in a legal fight over the rights to a shipwreck in Lake Michigan. The Griffon is 17th-Century ship that was built by the explorer La Salle. Both France and Michigan are seeking title to the ship so artifacts can be retrieved and preserved. Great Lakes Exploration found the ship in 2001, but has not revealed the location of the wreck to the public.
