Lake Flies
Lake flies, midges or Chironomidae are hatching in large numbers this year across the Great Lakes region. The non-biting flies only live for a few weeks, but can swarm people and buildings. The flies can also leave a distinct odor on objects, but are an important part of lake ecosystems.
