New Berlin Water Request

The first successful implementation of the Great Lakes Compact has been completed. The request for water from Lake Michigan by New Berlin, Wisconsin has been approved. The city is allowed to pump a little over 2 million gallons of water a day for areas of the city outside the basin. This volume replaces the amount the city currently gets from groundwater wells that produce water with radium levels exceeding state and federal health standards.
