Great Lakes Stimulus Funding
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is putting stimulus money to work on updating ports throughout the Great Lakes. They are also putting money into dredging projects that will allow ships to carry more tonnage. With the drastic fall in steel prices, projects are coming in well under budget. The Saugatuck revetment project was projected to cost $10 million dollars, but the budget now stands at $4.2 million.
